MT4 alternative - browser script

Products 6 min read

An MT4 alternative as a browser script is a trading terminal on your domain without installing MetaTrader. The client only needs an account login; the operator can keep one KYC flow, brand, and web funding flow. This is not an "MT4 hack" and not a promise of 100% Expert Advisor compatibility; it is another market-access channel under white label.

When a client says "I want it like MT4", clarify whether they truly need MQL and desktop, or a familiar chart plus order form in the browser. The answer determines whether the Forex web script is enough.

Advantages of a web terminal

  • Your own brand and domain, without someone else's splash screen.
  • Fast onboarding: link, registration, demo.
  • Unified account area, KYC, deposit and withdrawal.
  • UI updates without sending installers.
  • Mobile browser as a replacement for a weak Android APK.

Terminal: trading terminal. Script: Forex white label. Platform: Forex. Brand: white label.

What not to expect from the browser

MQL advisors, the familiar MT4 indicator marketplace, some desktop hotkeys, and offline desktop work are a different world. If the audience lives on EAs, web will be a second channel, not a replacement. State this honestly in onboarding materials.

For BO, comparison with MT4 is usually inappropriate because trade logic is different. BO: platform, script.

Feed and chart

A web terminal is alive only with quotes, just as MT4 is alive with a dealing connection. Empty feed means a dead order book or chart. Connection: quotes, API, WebSocket. Visuals: TradingView Library.

  1. A demo order changes equity.
  2. History matches the price on the chart.
  3. WS reconnect is reflected in the UI.
Client habit. Give a short guide showing where Buy/Sell and history are; it removes half the questions from MT4 migrants.

Account area nearby

In the MT4 ecosystem, some processes live outside the terminal; in a web script, the account area is the center: account area, demo, KYC, deposit/withdrawal. Do not make users search for funding in three sections.

Security and sessions

HTTPS, httpOnly session, and logout from all devices after password change. Web terminals are more often attacked by phishing login pages, so educate clients about the brand domain. CSP and preventing terminal embedding on other sites reduce clickjacking risk.

When to keep MT4

Prop teams with EAs, regulatory or liquidity requirements for a specific bridge, and existing marketing around "download MT4" are reasons to keep it. Then web is a showcase and simplified account; desktop is for advanced users. The main rule is not to claim that web fully replaces MT4 with all advisors.

Acceptance checklist

Screen-by-screen comparison of key actions: login, order, close, history, deposit. Mobile walkthrough. Support runbook for "I am used to MT4". Infrastructure: MicroPanel, MicroDrive, MicroEditor.

A browser alternative to MT4 wins on launch speed and brand control. Provide a live feed, honest account area, and clear order flow, and most retail clients will stay in the web terminal without installing anything.

Migrating client expectations

Create a one-screen cheat sheet: where to choose the instrument, volume, open positions, history, and deposit. In MT4, some of this is in separate windows; on web, it is usually one layout. A 60-90 second video saves hours of support.

If you add hotkeys, document them. Do not promise full parity with MT4 shortcuts.

Mobile web

PWA is optional: a home-screen icon gives an app-like feeling without a store. Do not promise offline trading; the market is online. Check landscape charts and tap accuracy on SL/TP if those fields exist.

Use browser quote pushes carefully with permissions; notifications about money-request and KYC statuses are usually more useful.

Mixed infrastructure

If some clients use MT4 through a bridge and retail users use web, unify symbols and trading hours. Different prices across channels are reputational poison. The feed must be normalized centrally: quotes API.

Operator reports should include the channel, web or mt4, in each deal. Otherwise you will not know which frontend generates errors.

Training the sales team

White-label salespeople should be able to show a demo trade in the browser in ten minutes and explain the difference from MT4 without promising advisors. The demo stand is always online, with a test sales login, not on client production.

Objections: "what about indicators?" Answer with the list available in the web library. "What about robots?" Answer honestly no or roadmap, without a gray zone.

After launch, collect the first week's frequent questions and update help. It is a living document, not an appendix to the contract.

Platform choice summary

Choose web when onboarding speed, brand, and a unified account area matter. Keep MT4 when the business relies on advisors and desktop habits. A hybrid is possible with one feed and honest marketing promises. Technical base for web: Forex script, terminal, quotes.

Operations after migration from MT4

During the first two weeks after offering web to MT4 clients, collect FAQ and improve the cheat sheet. Measure web versus desktop session share if the hybrid remains. Do not disable MT4 suddenly without an email and deadline. Compare prices across channels automatically on a sample of symbols.

Sales and support use one demo stand. Divergent stands mean divergent promises. Update the sales script after every visible terminal UI change.

Technical debt: remove MT4 screenshots from the landing page if you sell web, otherwise expectations drift again.

Do not call the web product "MT4 online" in advertising if there is no official connection to MetaQuotes; it is a legal and reputation risk. "Web terminal" or "browser trading" is safer and more honest.

Technical differences worth explaining

Web depends on the browser and extensions: blockers sometimes cut WS. Add to help: "if the price is not moving, disable the blocker on our domain". MT4 users do not expect this. Also explain that history and deposits live in the browser account area, not in local terminal files on drive C:.

The backup communication channel during a web outage is a status page and email, not "find us in MT4". If MT4 is disabled, say so directly.

At the end of onboarding, give a link to demo and a short terminal guide, not a desktop download. If desktop is still needed for selected clients, put it on a separate page with terms, not as the main CTA.
