Avito-Like Classified Script for Your Site

Products 6 min read

"Build us Avito" is how many briefs start. Usually it means a familiar scenario: choose a city, open a category, view a card, call the seller. It does not mean a pixel-perfect clone of another interface and definitely not a scraper of someone else's database. An Avito-like script for your own site is a classified on your domain with your moderation rules.

Scraping listings from major platforms is wrong legally and technically: blocks, captchas, stale data. Your script is filled by authors or your team. Traffic and trust are built for a niche, often local.

How "like Avito" differs from a marketplace and a store

  • The object is a listing by an individual or agency, not an SKU with stock.
  • The deal often moves to messenger or phone; there may be no cart at all.
  • Platform revenue is VIP, bumping, and placement packages, not a percentage of checkout, though escrow is a separate complexity.
  • Content moderation matters more than a "best sellers" showcase.

If you need card payment and pickup delivery, see ecommerce. If you need a board, see board script.

Screens that must match user expectations

Users familiar with large classified sites arrive with habits. Breaking them for a "unique UX" at launch is harmful:

  1. City selection or detection; otherwise a country-wide feed scares a local buyer.
  2. Categories as icons or a list, plus search by text.
  3. Filters: price from-to, with photos, private sellers only if the model requires it.
  4. Card: gallery, large price, description, map or district when needed, contacts.
  5. Mobile listing submission in 3-5 steps.

The city filter and directory are a separate pain point; practical details are in city filter. Bad photo previews kill trust faster than a weak logo: listing photos.

Moderation and VIP are not checkbox features

On a large marketplace, users tolerate strict rules because the audience is there. Your platform does not yet have that audience, so spam can kill it in a week. Pre-moderation is mandatory at launch. VIP makes sense when a category already has dozens of cards; otherwise a "showcase" with three VIP listings looks sad.

Working order: approved, allowed to buy bump/VIP, term expires, card moves down. Payment must not publish a rejected listing. Details: VIP and moderation, packages: paid placement.

Brand. Do not copy trademarks or visual style. "Analog" means the listing scenario, not a fake brand. Use your logo, colors, and name.

Niche instead of "all categories at once"

Successful small Avito-like projects I have launched include rental in one city, used tools, regional special equipment, and local services. A vertical lets you:

  • create required fields for the lot type, such as hours, area, or rate;
  • hire a moderator who understands the niche;
  • agree manually with the first 20 sellers.

A universal board "like the big one" without a marketing budget is usually empty. Technically it is the same script: turnkey classified or turnkey listing platform.

What I check in demo before promising deadlines

  1. Submission from iOS Safari and Android Chrome, including camera files.
  2. Changing city in the header actually filters the feed.
  3. Editing a listing returns it to moderation or is at least logged.
  4. Personal account shows active, pending, rejected, and archived listings.
  5. Phone numbers are not exposed to bots without delay or login.

Category and first-screen launch: board manual. A Telegram channel with new lots often brings return visits: Telegram bot.

What not to promise

Do not promise "we will be like a federal platform in a month". Promise a working classified on your own domain: categories, city, moderation, VIP, and mobile submission. That is an honest Avito-like site without a scraper, without someone else's brand, and with your own content responsibility.

Screen map for the client call

To keep the brief from sprawling, I fix five screens and do not promise more at launch:

  1. Homepage: city, search, categories, fresh listings, VIP.
  2. Category listing with price filters and "only with photos".
  3. Card with gallery and contacts.
  4. Mobile submission wizard.
  5. Author account plus moderator queue.

User chats, escrow, "safe deal", and mobile apps are next stages when there is volume and complaints are about load rather than emptiness. Otherwise the budget goes into features while the feed stays empty.

Content and first sellers

Your own Avito without sellers is a business card site. I ask the client before launch to name 20 contacts who will actually post: agencies, services, owners of used equipment. They can receive free VIP for two weeks, but only after moderation and with proper photos. A Telegram channel with new cards reduces the feeling that nobody visits. Ads should target categories that already have something to show, not an empty Electronics section.

If the niche is B2B, such as equipment, pallets, or warehouse leftovers, the interface can be stricter: fewer lifestyle elements and more parameters in filters. It is still the Avito-like scenario: city, category, card, contact. The script is the same; content and fields differ.

Legal and reputation frame

Your own classified means you are responsible for publication rules. Define prohibited categories before opening registration. Give moderators a stop list. Do not copy texts from federal platforms; write short rules for your niche. A local Avito-like reputation is built on the fact that the seller answers and the item exists. One scandal in a city chat can erase a month of advertising.

Technically, log moderator actions: who approved and who removed. When an author says "I was banned for no reason", you have facts. This is normal public-board hygiene. The script provides statuses; discipline comes from you. VIP and paid services without this discipline become selling visibility to questionable cards, which goes nowhere for the platform brand.
