Freelancer Jobs and Bids

A freelancer jobs and bids script keeps the task as the center of gravity. Around it live the brief, budget, messages, files, and status changes. Site-wide chat or comments under a post cannot replace this model.

If the marketplace is the product, jobs and bids are its daily mechanics. A broken bid flow breaks the marketplace even if the homepage looks good.

Publishing a Job

Minimum fields: title, category, description, budget, deadline, and sometimes contractor level. Drafts are useful; publishing must be a separate validated action with a stable clean URL.

Feed for Contractors

Contractors see open jobs, filter by category and budget, open a card, and read the brief. Closed and draft jobs must not appear in the open feed.

Bid as an Entity

A bid contains price, deadline, a short note, and sometimes a portfolio file. It has statuses: new, viewed, selected, rejected.

• Limit duplicate bids from the same account.
• Allow editing if the product rules permit it.
• Allow deletion while the job is open.
• Close other bids after one contractor is selected.

Selection and Work Phase

When the client selects a contractor, the job status changes and the work area opens: order chat, delivery, and optional deadline timer. Escrow is described at escrow.

Delivery and Acceptance

The contractor submits files or links. The client accepts or returns for revision. Acceptance closes the job and opens the review window.

Mandatory Test Scenario

1. A client publishes a job.
2. Contractor A bids.
3. Contractor B bids with another price.
4. The client selects A; B receives rejection.
5. A delivers, the client accepts, both see closed status.

Notifications

Remind silent clients and notify rejected contractors politely. Old hanging jobs should leave the hot feed.
